Assessment throughput vs. clinical quality — the false trade-off
Throughput problems are almost never clinician-speed problems. They are triage, tooling and reporting problems wearing a clinical costume.
When a provider tells us their assessors are too slow, we look at the pre-assessment pack first. Incomplete histories and missing school or workplace evidence add more time to an assessment than any clinician ever could.
The second place to look is reporting. Assessors who write letters from a blank page lose hours per case. Structured templates with clinician-editable sections recover that time without flattening clinical judgement.
Only after those two are fixed does adding clinicians produce linear capacity gains. Hire into a broken pathway and you buy the same bottleneck at a higher run rate.
